BLACK GIANT

The Jersey Giant originated in New Jersey during the 1880's from Black Javas, Dark Brahmas and Black Langshans. Black Giant chicks appear to be black, but have white wing tips, chests and abdomen. They have single combs and clean, yellow legs and feet. The adult plumage is entirely black but doesn?t have the same sheen as Black Austrolorps. They have large rectangular bodies and black legs and feet that are yellow underneath. They are considered a general-purpose breed, but because of their large body size, they are a relatively poor choice for egg production. (Ideal Poultry)
